So yesterday I bought all the supplies for our Shaftesbury Cream Ale, and I got to be kid-free to do it. As soon as I walked in the door, however, kid-mayhem caught up and I sort of threw the ingredients down on the counter and forgot about them. Yeast is supposed to live in the fridge, and hops in the freezer. Oops. So, when the baby woke up at 3:45am and I was done re-settling Bennett (who woke up from the crying) I suddenly realised what I had done. My mother-in-law is here this weekend and was sleeping on the couch, so I snuck through the living room in the dark, and in the kitchen chucked the yeast in the fridge and what I *thought* were the hops into the freezer. It was dark! It was 4am!
Turned out I left the hops on the counter and put all the grains in the freezer.
11am and I had to make an embarrassing call to Dan’s to find out if I had ruined all my ingredients. They laughed at me, in the nicest way possible of course…
