Wow, so at first I thought the idea of urban homesteading drama was amusing – what could it really be. At first it was confused with some allegations of plaguerising another homesteader’s work. What it really turned out to be is so much more disappointing.
I have linked to another blog on here before – in fact at one point I think they were on my blogroll. They have been homesteading in the city for a LONG time. Now they have decided to trademark “urban homestead” and “urban homesteading”, along with a lot of other words.
I could almost understand doing this if it were merely to prevent Walmart from buying it up someday (when they figure out how to market homesteading starter kits). However, they then started sending the equivalent of cease and desist letters to google and facebook, possibly in order to shut down the pages that other homesteaders had – that’s the result it had at least. They sent the same letters to bloggers all over the states.

What do you think of all this? I hate to see what is normally such a wonderful community divided….
