So I just heard some disconcerting news (thanks Sarah) that city compost is too toxic to use in veggie gardens. This is due to the high level of pesticides etc in the conventional produce that most people buy. Now, this is documented in San Francisco, where the city tried to say it was organic. But, is it the case here too? Is there any way for me to find out? Hopefully one of you can weigh in on the state of the Vancouver compost – I need to get my soil/compost mix in on Wednesday morning at the latest!
